What this means to you is that when you meet with people, it’s quick and easy for them to get here from almost anywhere, and when they do get here, they won’t have to spend an extra 10 minutes searching for a parking space that they’ll pay for and risk getting a ticket and/or towed from if they forget about it. Have you ever driven around for an extra 10-15 minutes in a neighborhood JUST to find a parking spot? And when you finally find a spot, it’s short-term, and you have to pay for it, right?
Here’s why parking is so good in Eastlake:
To summarize, unlike other neighborhoods close to downtown, you will NOT need to drive around for an extra 10-15 minutes looking for a spot that ends up being 4 or 5 blocks away from your final destination (AND you have to pay for).
We’re 1.5 miles from downtown. That’s two freeway exits. What more can you ask for?
Get Around.
Another highlight of this location is the convenient freeway access. I-5 is literally 2 blocks away. When you don’t have to spend additional time actually getting to the freeway, you’d be surprised at how fast you can get around, even to far distances. And getting back is just as fast. Have a quick meeting across town? Don’t waste twice the time getting there.
The Pit Stop.
The reverse is also true. Think about how often you drive on I-5 … 1x/week, 2x/week, or more? It now takes you just an extra 5 minutes during one of those drives to drop down and check your mail, or grab a file, or whatever else you might need to do “at the office.” 5 extra minutes. That’s called a pit stop. The convenience is priceless.
520 East Side Access.
Oh, and by the way, if you (or someone that is meeting you) are coming from the East Side (Bellevue and the such) via 520, the exit at Roanoke is only 6 blocks away. 6 BLOCKS AWAY … completely skipping any I-5 traffic. This is easy. Just looking at a map, you can see how centrally located Eastlake is. Augmented by great freeway access, you get a one-two combo that gets you anywhere in the city, lickity-split. Which also means that anyone that might be coming to meet with you can get to you easily as well. Not many people think about the convenience factor for others, but it makes a big difference in a location.

This map is meant to give a general idea of the available parking in the Eastlake area. We recommend the 4hr parking on Franklin between Boston and Newton, and the all day parking on the angled E. Howe street between Franklin and Boylston. However, this is an early version of this map, and accuracy is not guaranteed; we expect to make corrections, and you are advised to make sure to check the parking signs to verify how long you can park in any of the marked areas. Not all driveways or individual 30 minute load and unload only zones are marked. Park at your own risk.
We recommend AGAINST parking on the East side of Eastlake Avenue before 6pm, as there is no parking allowed from 3-6pm due to rush hour, and it’s too easy to forget. For example, say it’s 11am and your intention is to only park for an hour, so you expect to be gone well before 3pm. You never know when your schedule may suddenly change, and you no longer need to leave … you think you have plenty of time, but then you forget, and your car gets towed. We’ve seen this exact scenario happen many times. It just isn’t worth the risk. Find a different parking spot instead, there are plenty around.
We are proud members of the Eastlake Neighborhood and the Eastlake Merchant’s Association. Established in 1995, this shop has gone through its third name change as it has evolved into a multi-service facility. We are grateful for the support, encouragement and kindness that we have received from our neighbors through each transition. Eastlake is a very loyal, tight-knit community. People actually get to know eachother here. From one of the largest houseboat communities in Seattle to the biggest 4th of July party you’ve ever seen, Eastlake is the type of neighborhood that keeps people coming back even years after they’ve moved somewhere else; there’s something about this little neighborhood that catches people’s hearts. It’s what a neighborhood SHOULD be.
In the meantime, Lake Union is one of the most active lakes in the US. Officially, it’s an airport, with flights from seaplanes to the San Juans and Canada scheduled on a regular basis. Surrounded by restaurants, houseboats, houses, condos, apartment buildings and commercial offices with a view, a couple marinas and some commercial docks, Lake Union is one of the busiest lakes you’ll ever see. Two major parks on either end of the lake (Gasworks Park in the North and Lake Union Park in the South) with many small parks strung in between, there are over 50 public water access points to bring a kayak or dock a boat. During the summer, Tuesdays brings Duck Dodge, an official sailboat race around Lake Union, although plenty of boats are just there for the fun. You can rent a kayak or canoe, take a ride on an electric taxi boat or “Ride the Ducks” tour, take a Lake Union tour on one of the many tour boats, or even brave the waters and take a swim. Whatever you do, don’t miss the 4th of July around here … the entire Eastlake Neighborhood becomes one giant community BBQ, everywhere you go!
